At this point, I don’t even know if I ever wanted the Mutated Mer-Man from the Turtles of Grayskull line of figures or if the complete inability to find it anywhere has made me desire it. It was announced as a Walmart exclusive. I’ve never seen it at any Walmart I visited or up on their website. I was regularly checking both and it never appeared. It popped up on the Books A Million website for some reason and my order was canceled.

What’s not to love about this figure? The new head sculpt for this figure is awesome and surprisingly different from the previous MOTU Origins Merman figure and a little more reminiscent to the Mondo Merman from 2019. The sculpt is nearly completely different from all existing Mer-Man figures and that translucency. Oh that translucency.

All of the Turtles of Grayskull “mutated” figures in the line feature a somewhat translucent figure. This includes He-Man, Ram Man, and Moss Man. Mer-Man is no different. I’m not sure if it was purposeful that all of the mutated figures in the line have the “Man” suffix. I recently picked up the He-Man and Ram Man figures from a Facebook group claim sale. I’m surprised by the variety within the Turtles of Grayskull line and the mutated figures. Mutated He-Man and Ram Man sport exaggerated armor and weapons and whose features are massive for their MOTU frames. Imagine how wonderful it would be if I could hold Mer-Man in my hands?

I suppose that I’ll have to put Turtles of Grayskull Mer-Man on my grail list based on just how rare he was and how I’m just unwilling to pay $150+ for a figure that I’m gonna unbox. Let me know if you have one you’d be willing to part with for under $50.
Mer-Man, you slippery bastard, I want you on my shelf.
