Ram Fam Collectibles sent me a box of action figures for making content, and I’m excited to dig into the entire experience. Separating yourself from other retailers as a retailer for collectors means the safety of what you ship comes first. In the past, I’ve ordered protective packaging for figures that meant a lot to me to have mint on card, which inflated the cost of an order by a few dollars to ensure that the actual packaging a figure arrived in was unharmed.
I was unsurprised when the USPS box arrived a little beat up, but thrilled it didn’t look like it was stabbed and stepped on or worse. As you can see in the video, the box’s integrity was compromised, and one side was slightly crushed. Did that damage matter?
It did not. The inside of the box was lined with packing paper, and the action figures were all bubble-wrapped, with no damage to the figures’ packaging. I’ve purchased figures off pegs in stores that had more damage than these. To be honest, I feel a little bad letting these figures breathe based on the state of their arrival!
A few years ago, I had a custom SCUF Playstation controller stolen from the lobby of the apartment building I was living in. The box itself was branded, so anyone knowing what SCUF made and shipped could have easily identified the package. The thief was delivering a pizza, noted the box on his way in, and grabbed it on his way out. Since then, I’ve been cognizant of what kind of box things arrive in when they are of value.
I’ve since moved where there are no issues with porch pirates, but the package was nondescript, and aside from the return label, there was nothing to indicate the precious cargo inside.
For shipping speed, the package was sent on a Tuesday and arrived that Friday, and I was given a tracking ID.
